There are very few people in the world who have succeeded in the entertainment industry quite like Barbra Streisand. At a young age she skyrocketed her way to celebrity status, and quickly became a household name.
With celebrities, it can sometimes feel as though they live in an entirely different world from us. They feel unreachable – that we are somehow on a separate plane of existence from them. Knowing Streisand’s struggle and rise to fame, she is a celebrity that feels particularly out of reach. Being one of the few people who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony, her career in the entertainment industry stands tall above the competition. She is in a league of her own.
Streisand acted for quite some time during the course of her career, continuing to do so as recently as 2012. Prior to that, however, her third film was On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, in which she played Lady Melinda Winifred Wayne Tentrees, an exotic, beautiful woman from the 19th century. The movie was avant-garde conceptually, playing with concepts such as reincarnation, hypnotherapy, and pseudo time travel.

But such complexities only add to the mystique of the hat we now have on auction. Lady Melinda Tentrees, and to that extent, everything in Tentrees’ parts of the movie were designed with an intentional sense of extravagance almost unmatched by most movies of the era.
