Richard Millard has been described as both a living legend and a national treasure by America’s leading stained glass artists. He is known for creating beautiful sought after works of art for more than 60 years.
Millard is also a successful writer, who has written more than 400 articles on stained glass for different magazines and journals. He was the Interim Editor of the SGAA’s Stained Glass Quarterly from 1984 -1986. In 1979 he wrote the book “Stained Glass Paintings,” Isenberg and Millard, and for seven years he wrote a monthly column called “On Stained Glass” for Glass Digest. |
From September 1981 – August 1983 Millard published and illustrated a monthly newsletter called “Guidelines,” which later became the catalyst for the SGAA Reference & Technical Manual. He was the first chairman of the SGAA Repair and Restoration Committee from 1976 – 1984 where he provided consultation and specifications for stained glass restoration. |
In 1994 he established the Antrim School at Millard Studios where he has been teaching stained glass painting and design skills.
