Alex Cooper’s May 12th Gallery Auction was bursting with exquisite jewelry, suburb silver and rare coins and stamps. The auction highlighted fabulous jewelry by some of the world’s finest jewelry makers, including Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Tiffany & Co,. Other notable items of the day came from Oneida and Stieff.
The pinnacle of the day was the successful sale of an important sapphire and diamond ring. The AGL certified Natural Kashmir sapphire was set in platinum and featured a cushion antique mixed cut. Measuring 3.27 cts, 9.13 x 6.45 x 5.55mm, with diamonds surrounding the stone and shank, the ring was a classic stunner not to be missed. After a bidding battle between the floor and phone, the ring was sold for $100,000.*
