Description
Circa 1765, stamped PR mark under the rim. In the George III style, urn-form, scroll handle with a small monogram on the foliate cap, gadrooned rim, the whole on a pedestal foot with gadrooned rim; 5 1/4 in. H, 4.6 ozt.
Provenance
Presented to Abigail Alden upon her marriage to Rev. Francis Winter on October 27, 1768. Then by descent through the family. Examined by C. Malcolm Watkins, Associate Curator, Division of Ethnology, Smithsonian Institution, October 24, 1950. Appraised by Sotheby's for insurance purposes in 1987. Featured on Chesapeake Collectibles, episode 702, on Maryland Public Television, January 17, 2017.
